Every famous comedian in the world started their career doing Open Mic Comedy – Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock, Carl Barron, Kitty Flanagan… you name 'em, they all started out in Open Mic Rooms doing 5 minute sets for no money.
At Funny Coast Comedy we’re passionate about supporting and developing new local talent, so we run an Open Mic room in the Front Bar at Solbar.
Solbar, Maroochydore . The first and third Tuesday of every month . Show starts at 7:00pm
All of the shows are hosted by a professional comedian and feature a bunch of acts at various stages in their comedy journey. From complete newbies doing their first ever spot, to proper pro’s from the telly trying out new stuff, and everyone in between.

If you enjoy watching comedy and want to come out for laugh – this is where you see the stars of the future before they get famous.

A FIRST EVER FOR THE SUNSHINE COAST
Melbourne International Comedy Festival proudly presents RAW COMEDY 2025...
and for the first time ever - The Sunshine Coast had a Heat. Yay!
For the past 28 years, emerging comedians have gathered for a showdown of wits in this nation’s most extensive and esteemed open-mic comedy competition. This year is no different! We get to witness the rise of the next wave of comedy legends as they take the stage in the quest to find the ultimate 'hidden gem' of the comedy world.
RAW Comedy Alumni include: Anne Edmonds, Hannah Gadsby, Ronny Chieng, Matt Okine, Becky Lucas, Aaron Chen, Sarah Kendall, Sam Simmons, Celia Pacquola, Luke McGregor, Rhys Nicholson, Tom Ballard, Sam Campbell, Georgie Carroll, David Woodhead, Cassie Workman and more.
The Sunshine Coast heat was a high-quality show with strong performances from all involved. The night was judged by Comedians Harley Breen & Jenny Wynter, Sit Down Comedy Club's Fedele Crissi and Hot 91's Sam Cowards.
The final is in April at the Melbourne Comedy Festival.
